Happy 22 Month Birthday, James (Plus Jackson’s Two Week Stats)!!!

It floors me that my “baby” will be two years old in less than 2 months!

This past month started out pretty rough for James.  The first week he had three ”accidents” (bad things always come in threes, don’t they?).  The first accident he pushed backward in his booster chair at our dining room table and hit his head causing a pretty big nasty knot.  Later that day, he ran into a table at a friend’s house and hit the corner of his eye causing slight redness.  Then, later that week, we thought that he broke his finger!  Jeff accidentally shut James’ middle finger in his shower door.  It was pinched and cut on both sides of the finger and really swollen.  Thank goodness babies don’t have a lot of developed bones yet!  At the end of the month, he fell trying to get into his booster chair leaving a bruise in between his eyes.  He also got excited one night before bed and leaped over his bed rail and hit the same spot between his eyes.  With all these unusual accidents there many more to come I am sure!!!

James has made some new developments in the potty training arena.  BEFORE he poops he lets us know it by simply saying “poo poo” then about five minutes later will do his “business.”  Depending upon how easy of a baby Jackson  is going to be (cross our fingers), I think that we MIGHT try a brief boot camp potty training session this Summer to see how it plays out.  Summer in Dallas is primarily home bound for us since I hate the hot weather and burn in the sun!

James amazes us daily by how much vocabulary he is retaining.  We have special little games that we like to play with him pointing out different things in the room or in a book.  While reading, we also ask him “what’s this” and he tells us, but  if he doesn’t know something he says “I don’t know” which is really cute!  He is saying two and three word phrases constantly and loves to repeat EVERYTHING we say… he reminds us of a parrot sometimes!

He is VERY independent.  Even though there is so much going on at our house right now, he still loves to do his independent play.  James attempts to wash his hands, get up in his booster seat, buckle himself in, and he also puts on his own bib (the bad part is he also knows how to take it off too).

He learned how to catch air while jumping, although he is not consistent with it.   He says “jump” every time he does, which is really cute!

James’ favorite color is “green.”  At least that is his default for every answer to the question “what color is this?” HA!  Also his favorite word is “zucchini.” Funny thing is, he hasn’t even had zucchini in a while, but it is in the “z” book of his Baby Einstein Alphabooks… his favorite books right now (hmmm we are thinking that he may actually learn all of his letters by two)!

Check out where his fingers are… he thinks that is a pocket!

Jackson’s Two Week Stats

Although Jackson did not get back to his birth weight of 8 pounds, 7 ounces at his two week appointment, our pediatrician wasn’t the least bit worried because he lost so much initially and Jackson wasn’t quite two weeks old yet before his appointment.   Ironically, they got James’ height wrong in the hospital, so I had him remeasured there.  They said that James was 20 inches and he was actually 21 1/2!  In the hospital (regrettably) I didn’t get Jackson remeasured, but they were wrong AGAIN… they said that Jackson was 20 inches long and he was probably actually closer to 21 inches because today at his appointment he measured 21 1/8 (more than likely he didn’t grow over an inch in a week and a half)!

Height: 21 1/8 (75%)

Weight: 7 pounds, 13 ounces (30%)

Head Circumference: 36 (25%)
